Please join Tom Leiden, board member of the International Crane Foundation, as he talks about the remarkable comeback of the iconic Sandhill Crane in the state of Ohio. These majestic birds were nearly extirpated from Ohio in the 1930s.

Today, cranes can be observed once again in our skies and nesting in the wetlands. Tom will discuss the recovery, behavior, and current status of Sandhill Cranes in Ohio. Opportunity will be presented for assisting in the Midwest Crane Count on April 9, 2022.

About Our Speaker – Tom Leiden

Tom’s passion for nature and adventure started over 30-years ago when he became interested in birding. This interest led Tom and his wife Kathy to travel throughout the world where they developed a deep passion for wildlife and conservation. Tom retired from the family business, Leiden Cabinet Company, which allows him more time to spend on his conservation activities. Recently they have had the opportunity to be involved in several crane conservation projects with the International Crane Foundation. He serves on the Board of Directors of the following organizations:
· International Crane Foundation
· Cleveland Museum of Natural History
· North American Crane Working Group

Tom was the recipient Cleveland Museum of Natural History’s Conservation Award in 2011.
