12/1/21, Pearson (south): A small flock of Pine Sisk.’s called as they flew just as the sky was beginning to lighten in the east. They seemed to be aiming at the dawn. It was hard to tell their numbers because there were goldf.’s with them, but it’s safe to say there were less than 10. Now there is a pair of Pil. Wood.’s in the park. An R.-c. King. was in the bushes in the s.w. corner of Pearson. Nearby was a Pine Warb. This was the 2nd 1 seen here in a wint. month (1st was 2/17/93). In the main evergr. grove was a small flock of Red Crossbills. Since they were high up in a tall evergr., it was difficult to tell how many. But they were probably under 10. The main evergr. grove consists of Norway Spruces and White Pines with an understory of taxus (yew). Only the Pil. Wood.’s turned up for the CBC.
